Note:  Actual trip was taken on July 25, 2007

We had a fantastic, adrenaline filled fishing trip with Captain Bill.  I had been on a half dozen Great Lake’s fishing charters and will say that Watta Bite offers a dedicated fish guy that loves the thrill of a catch.  For all that have been on Watta Bite you recognize the yell “FISH!”  An inside saying that our family still uses.  We had no tangled lines, lost none of his lures, and brought in a freezer full of delicious fish.

Oh, and that reminds me…  Captain Bill knew that we were camping and that our travel trailer freezer may take forever to bring the fish to frozen.  So he offered us his freezer at his home.  We had fresh filets that evening with our home grown garden produce for the best meal ever.  Then we picked up some cherry’s and our bounty of fish at his place.  A quality guy.  Highly recommended and the photos are invaluable.

Skipper Bill,

Thanks for a great day on Friday 31st August 2007.

We had a very enjoyable morning fishing with you, catching 1 Coho and 7 King Salmon: 15.5lb King being the best fish with 3 others over the 10lb mark.

The catch was filleted by you very quickly and expertly - all part of the excellent service.

You worked hard and fast to find the fish and the whole experience for my wife and I was a special one.

PS “Tight Lines” and I’ll wear my Watta Bite cap with pride when fishing in England.

Bill,

Thanks again for the great day on the lake last week!

“The trip was spectacular.  We got out early before sunrise and caught several nice king salmon right at day break.  But we saved the best for last.  We had two on  the line to limit out in 3.5 hours.  The last catch of the day was the largest at 17 lbs.”

“I highly recommend dropping a few filets off at the Western Ave. Grill to enjoy for dinner.  They really know how to prepare the fish.  We had the Parmesan encrusted preparation, which was absolutely wonderful.”

Captain Bill,

I wanted to thank you for making our fishing excursion the highlight of our week-long vacation in Northern Michigan. Catching 18 good-sized salmon between the two boats we chartered made for a great day of fishing! Watching my dad help his grandson land that lunker was something none of us will ever forget. My brother, who was on the other boat, captured some great footage of their catches- so we all got to see my nephew land his 17 pounder on film when we got back to the cabin. It was a great day that we will never forget.

We feasted that night at the Western Ave. Bar & Grill, a nice upscale restaurant that gave us a good deal on cooking the fish you cleaned for us-with 5 choices of how to cook it. It was a great way to celebrate the events of the day, and have the rest of the family join us for it.

When the vacation was over, we still had plenty of salmon left over, and extended family members who could not join us on the trip got to sample the catch, they made a dinner that fed 10 people. Everyone agreed that it was some of the best fish they ever had. And we still haven’t made much of a dent in the amount of salmon we brought back! It looks like we might be eating salmon from this trip until Labor Day!

And by the way, that smoked salmon was also amazing. We broke it out to snack on while playing some Euchre, and no one could stop eating while we were playing. It kind of made for a tough game with the cards getting greasy and all though. We still have plenty of that left also.

My brother (who is a manager at a grocery store) figured out the value of the fish we caught, and it exceeded the cost of the trip. So if you want to know if I think it was worth it, all you really have to do is look at that!

Many of us are planning to do this again next year, it was great fun for all, and something great to share with the family.

So, try not to catch the rest of the salmon out there this year, make sure you save some for next year when we come back!

Best Regards,

John Pender

I have chartered fishing captains all over the state of Michigan and Florida. Captain Bill is always resetting the lines and changing the tackle to get the best combination to catch fish. In all the times I have gone with Captain Bill I have always caught the limit allowed of salmon. When you return to share and compare the catch with other charters coming in, Captain Bill always has the biggest and best catch.

Captain Bill, you are the best!
